List of science fiction writers

There are a number of distinctly different styles and types of authors in my list of science fiction writers, including:

1) Best-selling authors with very popular books and
2) Cult authors – these include many of my favorites."Hey!" you say. "Why should you be my guru? Why should I listen to your so-called words of wisdom?"Well, you don't necessarily have to, and you shouldn't take anything I say as the final word. Everyone has their own tastes. My list of favorite authors are only here to inspire you and help you take short cuts when you are looking for ideas on who to read next.With that said, here are some of my personal favorites.

My favorite science fiction authors
Whether you are just starting out in the SciFi genre, or have read a book or two (hundred), when you're looking for your next book why not choose something of quality? There are just so many hours in the day.

Online book stores and real ones are packed with books, and for a long time the science fiction books didn’t receive the respect they deserved.­
Your local library is a great place to start to get your hands on free books, especially when you're trying out something new. What is the best way in my world to choose a new book? Take a qualified tip from somebody who read it, and then you can argue with them later on about if they were right or wrong!

So, if you’re about to embark on a new journey into mind blowing science fiction adventures with robots, AI, strange planets and more, then why not do it with not only best-selling science fiction authors but some who have written some novels in true SciFi style?

Some of the writers I recommend are only my subjective favorites – but give them a shot!

What if you have already have read many different authors?

Great! Then I’m not the only one with a thing for the genre. Maybe there’s a hint or two for you as to how you can expand to a new and maybe unknown writer in your SciFi world. Whether you are new to the genre, or have discovered a science fiction novel that really is a hit for you, I’m sure there will be a lot of inspiration for you here.

If you want to read someone with a humorous tone - then you should read Douglas Adams, author of The Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy, who gained a cult following with his "trilogy".

One of my newest favourties is Peter F. Hamilton - clearly giving rebirth to this genre with his massive space operas.

The next author invented an entire genre, the Cyperpunk style. William Gibson, author of Neuromancer , created a unique universe in 1984.

Known for his ultra-violent style, teen slang and a film adaptation of his work,you can read more about Anthony Burgess, author of A Clockwork Orange , by following this link.

George Orwell, author of 1984 - Read about how he managed to offer one of the few and best visions of the world of the future.

Aldous Huxley - author of Brave New World , a book written with great irony and satire. His vision of the future is a different version than George Orwell's.

Read about the writing style of John Wyndham, author of Day of the Triffids , and how he became an author.

Frank Herbert, author of Dune, which later became one of the top classics of all time. A novel, movie, tv-series and pc games - Dune has it all.

Isaac Asimov, considered by many to be the inventor of SciFi in modern times and creator of law of robotics. One of the grand old men in the genre, with an inspiring life story.

James Blish, author of Cities in Flight , and an American who wrote both novels and short stories.

Orson Scott Card, winner of Hugo & Nebula awards , is not only famous for his writing but also the way he inspires and teaches others to become better. In his book about writing, you can learn a lot from him.

Rudyard Kipling admittedly seems an unlikely author in the Science Fiction author list.He was born in India and raised in England and later was the winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature.
